Introduction to Santander & GTB

The Global Transaction Banking (GTB) division offers financing solutions to large corporates, financial institutions & sponsors through a wide variety of products in Trade Finance, Export Finance and Supply Chain Finance and Cash management. The GTB team in Paris holds a leading European position in the markets it covers, providing financial services to listed companies and institutions in France, Benelux & Ireland.
The Trade & Working Capital Solutions (T&WCS) team is part of the GTB division. The Trade & Working Capital Solutions team provides clients with services and tailored solutions to mitigate risk in trade transactions, propose financing and optimize the working capital of corporate clients. The portfolio of products is diverse and includes Letter of Credits, Guarantees, Receivables Financing, Supply Chain Finance, Inventory Finance and Structured Trade solutions.
Product specialist: Front office for T&WCS in Paris
Responsibilities:
· Reports to the Head of the T&CWS team in Paris. As a GTB Senior Associate, you will support the senior T&WC officers on developing the T&WC relationship with a portfolio of blue-chip clients in a defined industry as well as potentially be responsible of the relationship of a selected portfolio of clients.
· Proactively identify and originate trade finance solutions (structured trade, guarantees, letters of credit, prepayments, supply chain finance, inventory solutions, receivables discounting) along with the senior T&WC officers and the bankers.
· Along with the senior T&WC officers, propose acceptable structures, negotiate terms with clients and prepare term sheets. Work with legal counsel on documentation.
· Coordinate with other teams (Products, Middle Office, Risk, Methodology, Legal, Private Debt Mobilization, Syndications, Correspondent banks, Compliance) to insure smooth handling of transactions.
· Help in managing the junior team (Analysts, graduates and interns) by providing knowledge and support in their day-to-day activities.
· Cross-sell Export Finance and Cash Management products whenever possible.
· Develop and maintain along with the senior T&WC officers dynamic calling program / networking.
· Contribute to product development initiatives, identification of incremental sales opportunities, pitches and sectorial research
Skills needed:
- Commercial capacity and drive are a must the same as excellent time management skills and adaptability to work under pressure with multiple priorities.
- Strong commercial/negotiation & origination skills
- Self-starter, entrepreneurial, sales oriented
- Strong problem solving skills and creativity
- Previous experience in T&WC products is appreciated in previous jobs
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as within a multi-cultural and cross-functional team
- Ability to work in a high paced environment
- Aptitude for customer service and proactive approach to customer relations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English (Spanish would be appreciated but is not required)
