Job sites

If you're reading this article, that suggests you already have access to the internet –

congratulations!

In 2020, it's pretty obvious that any job search should include taking a look at online job offers. But seeing as there's a whole host of general sites as well as the more specialized ones, we've decided to prepare a small list to help you find your way.

  • The general job sites

The more general sites bring together a large number of offers for all types of jobs and fields. If you want to go wide and find offers in marketing, communication and commerce, as well as logistics, accounting and management, for example, these sites are well-equipped to provide you with a wide range and number of offers.

In France, the most well-known job vacancy site is Pôle Emploi, set up by the French government to bring together a huge list of vacancies from all across France.

If you want to broaden your search and compare several job offers, you can also check out job sites from the private sector.

The most popular sites in France are:

If you're more interested in finding job offers that are tailored to your specific profile, then the specialized sites are for you! These are the sites that allow you to quickly home in on offers suited to you, because each of them is dedicated to reaching a certain type of profile.

Mister Bilingue, for example, (that's us!) is a site targeted at multilingual people in France. The positions offered are specifically dedicated to people who are bilingual or with a high proficiency in a foreign language. If you think that that's you, you're exactly the type of person that we hope to help find a job quickly with our list of offers!

There are also some other specialized job sites aimed at different types of profiles and sectors:

Recruitment agencies

So what is a recruitment agency exactly? Well, their job is to take care of the recruitment needs of their client companies.

In short, a recruitment agency helps companies that can't recruit in-house to find the most suitable candidates for their open positions. The agency supports them in searching for profiles and makes a first selection of candidates for the proposed position.

As a candidate, you can send your CV directly to the recruitment agency in the hope of setting up a meeting and eventually being offered positions related to your profile. Here are a few recruitment sites where you can create a profile directly online:

  • Hired, a general recruitment agency.
  • Malt, an agency specialized in recruiting freelancers.
  • Talent.io, an agency specialized in jobs in tech.

Companies

Do you already have an idea of what the company of your dreams would be like?

Well if that's the case, go ahead and make a list of all the companies that interest you and send them your CV. It's a direct approach, but we strongly recommend giving it a go if you really want to find a job that makes you tick!

Companies often have a "Careers" page on their website, where you can find the current job vacancies they have on offer. This means that you can apply online to specific companies and target the job offers that are available.

And if the company of your dreams doesn't have vacancies right now, feel free to send a spontaneous application! Because as the expression goes, "If you don't ask, you don't get!"

Come on, go for it, we believe in you!

Professional social networks

We've said it once, and we'll say it again: if you've got access to the internet, there's no better way of finding a job quickly!

With the dawn of social networks and the ease of online communication, it's become easier and easier to apply to a higher number of posts.

That being said, we don't necessarily recommend that you post your CV on Facebook or Instagram (even if it could always be worth a go…). Instead, there are a number of other "professional" social networks that have the specific goal of connecting people through their professional profile.

In France, the two best known professional social networks are LinkedIn and Viadeo. It's well worth creating a profile on one of these sites in order to increase your visibility with potential recruiters.

The Shapr app allows you to discover people who have the same professional expectations as you do. Think of it as a Tinder-style app, where you swipe left or right to match with profiles that suit you professionally.

So, you've created your LinkedIn account, but you've got no idea how to optimize it in order to find the right job? Don't panic, we're here to explain everything you need to know in one quick article!

Networking and word of mouth

So, what about if you don't have internet, but you do happen to have contact with other human beings? Well that's fantastic news, and it's also useful for finding a job quickly!

Talking about your situation to those around you can be a great way to find new opportunities. It's more and more common to be referred to a company through a contact, and it's a tried and tested method of landing a job.

If you spread the word, it's quite possible that someone you know could offer you a job in their company or may know someone who might be interested in your profile.

For this to work, it's important to be socially proactive, to meet new people, to network and give out your contact details to as many people as possible who may be in a position to hire you (or at least help you in your search for employment).

If you can, go to job fairs to meet professionals in the sector that interests you, because this is a great way to participate in professional workshops with people with a similar professional profile.

Just arrived in France and on the lookout for a job? The good news is that Mister Bilingue organizes free online webinars specifically to meet and talk to other bilingual people about the best ways to find a job in France!
